Middle School focuses on rich, multidisciplinary case studies and exposure to various careers in the healthcare industry. Middle School will be a time that all students WIN (get What I Need) to ensure they are accelerated and remediated to successfully complete the rigorous Early College Pathway.
We will focus on the EPIC design model to provide:
Educational Experiences
Participating in rich, authentic learning experiences builds background knowledge and increases student achievement with a specific focus on healthcare. These include:
Community service projects
Simulation Lab experiences
Practical, Problem Based Curriculum
Teaches students a solution based approach designed around real world challenges and relevant learning. Students:
Learn effective communication and collaborative
Develop critical thinking, problem solving, and work based competencies
Have the opportunity complete at least 5 HS credits by the end of 8th grade (Health and PE, Algebra I, Physical Science, and 2 years of WL/Latin)
Will engage in the Middle School Georgia Standards of Excellence Healthcare Science courses to expose them to careers in Healthcare:
Individualized Learning
Individualized Learning honors learner differences and allows the educator and learner to co-plan an individualized healthcare pathway.
Every student sets personal goals and creates a plan to achieve them.
Every teacher is a personal coach to provide assistance and resources.
Competency Based Assessment
Students earn credit by demonstrating mastery of the content. Competency-based education helps achieve greater equity, foster deeper learning, or to create a system of continuous improvement.
